Teleportation - The Science behind Magic

Teleportation - The Science behind Magic

I was 10 years old when I was watching an anime called Dragon ball (You all might be knowing it). Goku, the strongest man in the entire universe sometimes just disappeared and appeared at some other place. I thought it was some superpower of his. Few a days later while watching Pokemon, a pokemon named Kadabra did the same and now I was too curious to know what it was. Was it that they used magic? or was there some science behind it?

Back then the only thing I knew was what they were doing was called teleportation. How wonderful would it be to just travel from one place to another with the slightest effort? Say 'Beam me up' and you can reach your friend's house in a fraction of a second ( I wouldn't say class because none of you would wish to teleport there; I know). So what is this all about? Can you teleport?

What is Teleportation?

Teleportation is scientifically the transfer of mass from a point to another. In simple terms, it's relocating a particle within two points of interest. To date, no human has ever seen the process of teleportation take place. This can happen in two ways. One, the substance should travel at a really high speed. Two, the complete information from the substance should be extracted and brought into a new place. The former case seems to be nearly impossible because for that to happen, it has to able for a substance to lose its mass and then regain it once the process is complete. This of course also breaks Newton's laws which are the pillar for macroscopic objects. Now, this clearly means we can rule out macroscopic objects (Yes, Humans too ) from teleportation.

Does that mean it's not possible?

It certainly is possible but in the quantum world. Scientists have found that it is possible to teleport particles like electrons. Quantum entanglement allows this to happen. This actually doesn't mean that a particle that is at my home will reach your room on command. Quantum entanglement requires a pair of electrons to be connected initially. When one among the pair now is taken far, they still remain in contact. This means if you rotate particle a 180° clockwise, particle b which is far from the other also rotates 180°. It is not known till now as to how far will this work but quantum entanglement is the key for teleportation to happen.

How about humans??

Not just our lives but many things will be easier if at all teleportation is possible. Medicines can be sent from one place to another under an emergency. Water can be supplied to areas prone to drought. After all these explanations, why would one still have hopes for this?
We might have not witnessed teleportation in the modern period but there have been several instances where not only God but substances were also teleported. This gives a lot of hope for teleportation to actually happen. Imagine one fine day you figure out how to stop entropy? That would be a major key for teleportation to happen.
You never know what happens in science :)

Thank you!
Happy reading.

This is amazing until now I had thought that teleportation are impossible but now I have some hopes that it will be true some day. Thank you for this wonderful article!
