Time Travel

Understanding Time

Ever since the dawn of time, Time was believed to be constant until Sir Albert Einstein proved it to be relative. All this happened when he travelled in a cable car. He just raised his head to see a clock tower far from him. He just started thinking and had a look and his wristwatch. It appeared to him that the second's hand moved faster on his wristwatch than on the clock tower. He started thinking much deeper. What if the cable car was moving faster? What if the cable car was moving at the speed of light? In such a case, the time on his wristwatch would tick but the time on the clock tower would never tick. This is how we got a big theory which we now know as the Theory of Relativity.
According to this, Time speeds up and slows down relative to an object. It also states that space, which is considered to be a fabric having an object with mass bends the time. This is why a person sitting at his home would age much faster than a person somewhere outside the earth in a space shuttle.

What is time travel?

Time travel is basically getting from one point to another in time. There are two types of time travel. Going back in time and Going forward in time. The former is clearly impossible because if at all it was possible, you should have seen yourself at least one point of time. Need something more? Alright. Imagine you decided to do a pole walk, fell and broke your arm. Now you go back in time, tell your past self not to do it as you broke your arm in the process. If you're successful in stopping your past self, have you actually broken your arm now? what was the purpose of you travelling back?
If at all it went above your head then don't worry, you're not the only one. Such a void makes it really impossible to believe in travelling back in time. If at all travelling back in time was possible, you could possibly do nothing but just see it.

Is travelling in future possible? You wouldn't believe if I say you actually are travelling into the future. No, I'm not kidding. Let's say I and you buy a brand new watch at exactly the same time and set exactly the same time. Now say I was in Delhi when all this happened and you were in Bangalore. I decide taking a flight to reach you and you wait for me at the airport. For me, who's now travelling in air time flies relatively faster and for you who's waiting for me at the airport, it's slower. Now when we meet, our watches which was previously showing exact same time will now have a small difference. This is called 'Time dilation'. I and you felt the time and different rates and now I'm actually a minute younger making myself having travelled to the future. Weird isn't it?

All these mean that if at all, one can travel faster in time, it must be able for them to go to the future. How fast? Well, one has to travel at speed of light to achieve it which is practically not possible as a human cannot survive at that speed. Can a machine travel at that speed? Till date, the fastest ever space vehicle sent to the outer space was just 0.064% the speed of light.

 Conclusion

Humankind hasn't advanced to such an extent where one can actually travel through time and enjoy a new way of living. For now, all we know are some theories which might need years together for its occurrence or maybe it might not happen at all. Speculating about it has no harm. If you are a time travel enthusiast, one way by which you can experience all these is by actively involving yourself into a movie of this genre.

P.S: To blow your minds again, You can see things in the past :P  The sun rays which you see early in the morning come out of it nearly 8 minutes before you actually see it. This means you're seeing sun the way it was 8 minutes ago and not at that moment.
Now just because I said, don't go and look into the sun right away, it'll damage your eyes XD

Thank you.

Amazing! After reading your blog post I would say there is no use of time travelling. As teleportation is related to this could you write about it?
