The time when luck was by my side

The time when luck was by my side

LUCK, for some it exists and for some, it doesn’t, but personally, for me, it is that one thing that saved my life. I was in my first year of pre-university. It was on that day I realized there is something called luck. It was one beautiful evening and everything was going great. and I was returning home riding my dad’s bike after meeting my friend. I was overtaking a bus and suddenly I encountered an old man who took a wrong turn and boom!!! The unexpected happened, at that instant of time, with the speed I was overtaking and riding with no gears I didn’t know what to do. By the time I could do something it was all over. I was feet away from my bike and from here I would say it was all luck that saved me. Luckily I could get up on my own but I couldn't feel my leg. Luckily I was thrown towards the side of the road as I mentioned, there was a bus right behind me and more importantly, the old man just had a scratch and not much happened to his bike. He called his son and I called my dad and luckily his son understood what happened and no serious action was taken. I was later taken to my home and we were unaware of what had happened to my leg. The entire night I spent a lot of pain but I believe what had happened was to teach me a lesson.

The next morning we went to an Orthopedic and he said that my knee bone was broken into two pieces and again luckily he said it was curable with fracture treatment without any surgery or use of an intramedullary rod to align and stabilize my fracture. I was asked to take complete bed rest for two long months which means that I had no chance of attending classes. I was afraid that I would lose my one previous year but again luckily after two months, I was allowed to give my exam where I was asked to just provide a medical certificate. This entire experience made me have a strong belief in luck and I would say if it wasn’t luck that saved me then I would have ended up in deep trouble.
