My Experience in Sushiksha Quarter 1

My Experience in Sushiksha Quarter 1

My journey at Sushiksha has been a fascinating one. From getting removed from the workspace for being inactive for a long time to being very active and taking part in most of the events, I have come a long way. As it is said, “Everything happens for a reason”, getting removed from the workspace made me realise the value of it. I was lucky enough to get another opportunity to be a part of this superlative workspace. This one opportunity changed me a lot.

Sushiksha is remarkable in every way. The events organised by Sushiksha are a special attraction to everyone. Oratoria is one of them. The memories of my first Oratoria speech are still very fresh in my mind. My nervousness had no limits, I faced network issues while speaking which only made it worse for me and I was truly disappointed. Little did I know that all this would teach me so many lessons that would help me further in life. It made me more confident and helped me improve upon my speaking skills by detecting the flaws in them. The mentor's feedback helped me to improve more.

Dividing everyone into teams and assigning different roles to each one of  them was something new but still, the best idea. It made me evolve myself into being a team player. I never knew that I could get so attached to the people whom I haven’t even met till date. My team “Urja” has supported me in every phase, they are always there when I need them. This makes me want to do anything and everything for my team.

There was a time when I made numerous excuses to avoid doing pair sessions and now I am here, not being able to work for even half an hour without being on pair. This taught me one of the greatest lessons of my life, “You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone”. The way my productivity in work increased after I started attending pair sessions, is beyond explanation. It felt like I have enough time to accommodate all tasks and still be relaxed having time to walk around the garden or cook something new everyday or just take short naps in between. Doing a music pair once in a while is also very refreshing.

Sushiksha has played a major role in helping me improve my technical skills. I became a part of Joy of Electronics(JOE) since I am an Electronics student, I did a few simulation projects under JOE, it helped me in my academics as well as to improve my conceptual understanding. I cannot talk about improving my technical skills without mentioning SCL. The mini hackathon is one of the best things that happened to me in 2020. I can never forget that day, it was my first ever hackathon and I had worked on the frontend part, I was so contended that day because that was something I believed, wasn’t my thing, I never thought I would be able to work on a web app when I had just started learning HTML/CSS. From then on, I became more interested in web development. Working on the SCL maxo project was once in a lifetime experience for me. I got to learn so much from it. My coding skills improved a lot. Talking about coding skills, I have to mention Datacamp. WKC and Sushiksha never fails to surprise me and one such surprise is Datacamp. It is a great step taken by the alumni association. Although I wasn’t doing many courses in the beginning, later on I started taking courses of my choice and completed them. There are many interesting and useful courses on Datacamp.

Sushiksha provides a platform to socialize and meet new people. All the mentors and mentees are a great source of inspiration to me. Earlier, when the donut sessions were announced, I made excuses to avoid them. But today, I wait to do donut sessions and 1:1 sessions. I want to talk to people and get to know them. I have had a great donut and 1:1 session experience, all thanks to Sushiksha that has been instrumental in changing me for good. The birthday bash is a very nice initiative, so much effort is put to make the birthday girl’s/boy’s day extremely special. I felt really happy during my birthday party and I will cherish those memories forever.

Two people who I respect and adore the most are Gurudath maam and Sahana Akka, words cannot describe how much they mean to me. I am lucky to have them in my life. Royal is one of the people who has motivated me to keep working constantly, he inspires me all the time and I am really grateful to him.

No doubt Sushiksha is going to hold a very special place in my heart forever. It has helped me to know myself, my potential and has enabled me to tap that hidden energy in me whose existence I wasn’t aware of, before I became a part of Sushiksha. I feel so cared and loved here. “Things come and go but the things that are meant to stay will stay”, the lovely memories and the life lessons that Sushiksha gave me, will stay with me forever. I have become better as an individual, I have learnt to come out of my comfort zone when needed and to try out different things, I have found a new me and I am continuously working to become the best version of myself. I don’t think that I can give back to Sushiksha all that I have received because I owe a lot to Sushiksha. I will work hard to give back as much as possible.

I want to give the whole world

To the one which became my world

Funny, how an year ago, for me, it was completely unknown

But has now become my second home
